Life moves quickly. Ministry, work, family responsibilities, and daily demands can fill every available space. Before long, we can become so busy serving God that we neglect spending time with Him.<br><br>We continue doing good things while our souls quietly become weary. We attend church but stop listening. We pray, but only when we need something. We read Scripture, but only to prepare for someone else. We serve, but no longer from a place of overflow.<br><br>That is why seasons of sabbatical are so important.<br><br>Sabbatical invites us to stop measuring productivity and start examining proximity. It shifts our attention from what we are doing for God to how we are doing with God. God never intended us to live on spiritual fumes. He desires relationship before performance.Presence before productivity. Communion before commission. When Jesus called His disciples, He first invited them to be with Him before He sent them out to minister.<br>The same principle remains true today.<br><br>Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is stop long enough <br><span style="font-size: 1.5em; letter-spacing: 0em; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">for God to restore us.</span><br><div><br>To sit quietly.<br>To listen.<br>To breathe.<br>To worship without rushing to the next task.<br>To enjoy God's presence without an agenda.<br>To remember that we are loved because we are His, not because of what we accomplish.<br><br>When we stop, we discover that God is still working even when we are not.<br><br>Happy Sabbatical<br><br><br></div></div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

Over time, our focus can subtly shift from tending our own souls to simply producing results. Paul's instruction to Timothy is sure. Before Timothy was told to watch over others, he was told to watch over himself.<br><br>"Keep a close watch on yourself."<br><br>The order matters. A dull axe cannot effectively cut wood. A dry well cannot provide water. A depleted soul cannot continually pour into others.<br><br>This is one of the gifts of a sabbatical.<br>A sabbatical is not merely a break from work; it is an intentional season of spiritual examination. It is an opportunity to stop long enough to ask:<br><br>* How is my relationship with God?<br>* Am I listening to His voice?<br>* Have I been ministering from overflow or from emptiness?<br>* Is my heart healthy?<br>* Am I becoming more like Christ?<br><br>Paul understood that what happens inside us eventually affects everyone around us. Our spouses, children, churches, coworkers, and communities are impacted by the condition of our hearts.<br>The best gift we can give those we serve is not endless activity. While you were relentlessly slogging away, I was stopping to sharpen my axe.”<br><br>This is the purpose of church sabbatical. It’s an opportunity to sharpen our ax.<br><br>A sabbatical is not about stepping away from ministry; it is about strengthening ourselves for ministry. It is a God-given opportunity to rest, reflect, renew, and reconnect with Him. Just as a sharpened axe is more effective than a dull one, refreshed hearts and renewed spirits are better equipped to serve, lead, love, and fulfill God's purpose.<br><br>During this sabbatical season, we are taking time to sharpen our axe. Seek the Lord, find fresh strength, and prepare for the work He has ahead. We look forward to returning renewed, refreshed, and ready for the next season God has prepared for us.<br><br>"But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." — Isaiah 40:31<br><br>Happy Sabbatical</div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

Any good solider is always ready to fight. You may be fighting for your marriage, fighting financially, fighting to train godly kids, or just fighting to maintain a godly bloodline. Your fight is never alone. We share the same spirit. There are many fighting with you; giving everything they have, just like you. One of the worst things you could ever think is you’re the only one. When Elijah believed he was the last faithful person left, God told him He had reserved a remnant of 7,000 who had not bowed to the false god Baal (1 Kings 19). You are not fighting alone.<br><br>“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.”<br>‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬<br><br>You may know it this way:<br><br>“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”<br>‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬<br><br>The word "carnal" means of the flesh, human, or worldly. It means you cannot fight spiritual battles using human strength. The battle is fought and won using spiritual tools.<br><br>Prayer and Supplication: Directly communicating with God.<br><br>The Word of God: Often called the "sword of the Spirit," which we use to combat doubt or deception. It is our training manual.<br><br>The Armor of God: which includes the belt of truth, the shield of faith, and the helmet of salvation.<br><br>July 4, 1776 came only about a year after the revolutionary war began and about six years before it would finally end. Yet, it’s the single most revered day of American history. &nbsp;In the mist of the war, the fight, it may be time to make a mid-war declaration of your freedom in Christ.<br><br>A "mid-war declaration" is not denying that you're in a battle because you are in a battle and you know it. It's choosing to agree with what God says while the battle is still happening. We don’t wait until we see victory to declare freedom. Faith declares God's truth before the circumstances change.<br><br>- God is with me in this battle.<br>- This struggle does not define me.<br>- Christ has already won the victory.<br>- My current circumstances are not my final destination.<br>- Nothing God has allowed in my life will be wasted.<br>- God still has purpose for my life.<br>- God is working all things together for good.<br>- My future is still in His hands.<br><br>The Declaration of Independence was made in the middle of the struggle, not after victory had already been secured. The colonies declared their freedom before the war was won.<br><br>“Wehold these truths to be self-evident …” Declare these truths to be evident!!<br><br>The battle is the Lord's.<br><br>Happy 4th of July!!!</div></div></div></div></div></section>]]></content:encoded>

Everyone who gets a gift has two questions. First, “Who is it from?” Second, “What does it do?”<br><br>Our freedom in Christ is from Jesus. We didn’t earn it. He died for it. That’s who it’s from, but what does it do? Galatians 5:1<br>reminds me, it’s for freedom we’ve been set free. So what does freedom do? It produces more freedom. Freedom for me, my marriage, my kids, my friends, my co-workers, and my neighbors. We were given the gift of freedom to share.<br><br>Salvation like freedom is a free gift. Given to us by Jesus Christ. He fought for it and gave his life for it. We should never take His gifts for granted.<br><br>“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”<br>‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭NLT‬‬<br><br>Go and do the good things! Spread the Good News of Jesus Christ. Let people know of His goodness. It is easy to focus or overly focus on the gifts the Holy Spirit has given to us. At times, I believe, giftings can cause us to limit ourselves or even fall short of Gods intended plan for us.<br><br>“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”<br>‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭11‬-‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬<br><br>What is our assignment? It is “Go.” This is not a suggestion! It’s not optional. If you are a child of God, God expects you to go and make disciples. This is the plan of God for your life. Our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God and brought sin into the world (Genesis 3). If you and I were in God’s position, would we have felt like restoring Adam and Eve? We might have wanted to start over with someone else. Maybe we’d even make an entirely different world and fill it with something other than ­human beings. But God chose not to abandon his creation. Even though we humans don’t deserve it, God stays in relationship with us. He clothes us. He guides us. And he promises that Satan will be defeated. Throughout the Old Testament we find that God’s people fell into sin and dysfunction again and again. But God remained faithful. He stayed with his people and promised that one day a Savior would come, break the cycle, and free people from the curse of sin. Yet when I am among mature believers, I do speak with words of wisdom, but not the kind of wisdom that belongs to this world or to the rulers of this world, who are soon forgotten. No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God—his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began. But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord. That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? To hear means to attend to, understand, and perceive. It’s not just about audible sounds but recognizing the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart and guiding your steps. The word, know, in the Greek implies an intimate, personal relationship. It’s not mere head knowledge; it’s a deep, heart-to-heart connection between you and your Savior. When you take time to attune your heart to His voice through prayer, reading His Word, and seeking His presence; you are putting on the mind of Christ. The more you do, the clearer His voice becomes. Don’t doubt your ability to hear Him; you are His sheep, and He longs to speak to you. I encourage you today to live in this truth. The return of Jesus Christ puts every circumstance, situation and event in perspective. The God of peace is with me is the perspective we should view everything through; no matter what it looks like. This is how we pray about everything and worry about nothing. This is why we thank Him for everything He has done and everything He is going to do. The God of peace is with me. His hand is on my life. We must live for Christ to experience this goodness. Then and only then can His peace guard our hearts and our minds. Never forget to focus on the things above. Look up and refocus your focus. The Lord will lift you up. When we are positioned above a situation things “perspective” is different.<br><br>So fix your thoughts, words and deeds. The God of peace is with you. Allow the Holy Spirit to remind you of “The Way” and incline your heart towards heaven. All of this takes practice. I encourage you today to start practicing and practice more. Think of what grace and strength they would need to reach out from their own troubles with selfless concern for someone else. That is doing what Jesus would do. &nbsp;<br><br>Paul, the apostle, suffered much as one of the first Christian church planters. &nbsp;Paul found himself behind bars often because of spreading the gospel and clearly he wanted to be with and minister to his friends in Christ. &nbsp;(Paul wrote majority of the New Testament in prison.)<br><br>Satan used circumstances (prison) to block him from going but Paul didn’t make his difficulties into excuses for not doing what was needed.<br><br>Satan also tries to block us with difficulties. If we elevate our troubles over our responsibilities as followers of Jesus and give up, Satan wins that battle. Discipling people doesn’t always require a big elaborate plan. Maybe it’s a friend who is struggling with reading his Bible every day. Or, maybe it’s the coworker who is going through a difficult time and needs care. These opportunities for discipleship are right in front of us, but we don’t always know what to do.<br><br>When we feel like we don’t know what to do, we can look at Paul’s example of what discipleship looks like. Paul cared for people just as a mother would care for her child. He didn’t see people as projects or throw his weight around claiming he was better than them. He only discipled them because he wanted them grow in their faith and take next steps.<br><br>“As apostles of Christ we certainly had a right to make some demands of you, but instead we were like children among you. Or we were like a mother feeding and caring for her own children. We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too. Don’t you remember, dear brothers and sisters, how hard we worked among you? Night and day we toiled to earn a living so that we would not be a burden to any of you as we preached God’s Good News to you. You yourselves are our witnesses—and so is God—that we were devout and honest and faultless toward all of you believers. And you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children. We pleaded with you, encouraged you, and urged you to live your lives in a way that God would consider worthy. For he called you to share in his Kingdom and glory. Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. Every war time President listed here gave a speech. Some are more memorable than others but it happened. These wars are a compilation of millions of lost lives. Some of these presidents were the start and finish of the wars. But many started the war, others inherited the war and a few had the privilege to end the wars. They all had their part to play and the American solider was their solution.<br><br>A great people has been moved to defend a great nation. Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.<br>- President Bush Jr.<br><br>Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the United States and one of the most influential figures of the Cold War. The most interesting thing about the Cold War was just that; it was cold. It was a time of conflict, not a war time period. Ronald Reagan was not a “war time” president. The Cold War was called cold because the featured heavyweights, the Soviet Union and the United States, were &nbsp;"at peace." But they engaged in circling each other, jabbing at each other, testing each others' supposed weaknesses. It was a “war of words” if you will. The Cold War lasted from 1947 to 1991, a period of about 45 years.<br><br>How many of you are in the mist of your own “Cold War”? Actual weapons have never been drawn but words and antics are flying left and right. There are casualties based on &nbsp;the belief of who is wrong or right and it has lasted for years. Are you fighting a “war of words”?<br><br>“We know only too well that war comes not when the forces of freedom are strong, but when they are weak. Fight the good fight of faith. There are battles to be won daily and they won’t start or end themselves. There will be many casualties but the price of freedom requires it.
