We love to celebrate finding lost things. We were made in God’s image, and God parties big when lost things are found. He loves restoration.
Jesus suggests angels celebrate in heaven when someone discovers freedom in Christ. All of heaven rejoices!
“And when she finds it, she will call in her friends and neighbors and say, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost coin.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.””
Luke 15:9-10 NLT
Jesus told a story about the Prodigal Son. When the son came home, the Father killed his best cow and threw a party.
“And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: and bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: for this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.”
Luke 15:21-24 KJV
And what happens when we all meet Jesus? A glorious supper.
“Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, shouting to the vultures flying high in the sky: “Come! Gather together for the great banquet God has prepared.”
Revelation 19:17 NLT
We celebrate the 4th of July with apple pie, fireworks in the sky, baseball games, and BBQ flames. All to celebrate liberty once lost but now found.
Enjoy it.
America is celebrating its semiquincentennial which is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. 250 years ago, America chose freedom. Celebrate it in every city, every town, and every stretch of American road.
Happy 4th of July!
