Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Before God asks for our service, He asks for our hearts. Before He calls us to minister to others, He calls us to love Him. Before He entrusts us with responsibilities, He invites us into relationship.
Worship, service, and ministry are not meant to be duties we perform. They are meant to be expressions of a heart that loves God. When our hearts are captivated by Him, worship becomes more than singing songs; it becomes a response of love. Service becomes more than meeting needs; it becomes an act of devotion. Ministry becomes more than fulfilling obligations; it becomes a partnership with God in His work.
The challenge is that it is possible to stay busy doing things for God while neglecting our relationship with God. We can become so focused on serving that we forget to sit at His feet. So focused on ministry that we neglect intimacy. So focused on helping others encounter God that we fail to encounter Him ourselves.
Jesus made it clear that the greatest commandment is not to serve, preach, teach, or lead. The greatest commandment is to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Everything else flows from that place.
When love for God is at the center, worship remains sincere. Service remains joyful. Ministry remains fruitful. When love grows cold, even good works can become burdensome. Sabbatical ends here. Take a moment to examine your heart. Not your schedule. Not your accomplishments. Not your ministry results. Your heart. Because the quality of our worship, service, and ministry will never rise above the condition of the heart from which all these things flow.
Good Morning Lord,
Thank You for loving me first. Help me never become so busy serving You that I forget to love You. Draw my heart closer to Yours and renew my passion for Your presence. Let my worship, service, and ministry flow from genuine love and devotion, not merely duty or responsibility. May everything I do bring glory to You. In Jesus name, Amen.
