I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
John 10:11
Throughout Scripture, God often compares His people to sheep. Sheep are dependent creatures. They need guidance, protection, and care. Left to themselves, they can easily wander off course and find themselves in danger. Jesus knew this when He declared, "I am the Good Shepherd."
Unlike a hired hand who works only for a paycheck, the Good Shepherd genuinely cares for His sheep. He knows them by name, watches over them, protects them from danger, and leads them to places where they can thrive. Most importantly, He was willing to lay down His life for them.
What makes Jesus the Good Shepherd is not simply His ability to lead; it is His love. He does not drive His sheep from behind; He leads them from the front. He walks ahead of us, making a way where there seems to be no way. He sees dangers we cannot see and understands needs we do not yet recognize.
Sometimes we find ourselves wandering. We try to lead our own lives, trust our own wisdom, and follow our own path. Yet every time we drift, the Good Shepherd calls us back. His voice is not one of condemnation but of invitation. He lovingly guides us toward safety, truth, and life.
There may be seasons when you feel lost, uncertain, or overwhelmed by the challenges around you. In those moments, remember that you are not navigating life alone. The Good Shepherd is watching over you. He knows where you are, He knows what you need, and He knows the way forward.
Today, take comfort in knowing that Jesus is not a distant Savior. He is a present Shepherd. He is guiding, protecting, providing, and leading His people every step of the way.
Good Morning Lord,
Thank You for sending Jesus, the Good Shepherd. Thank You for His love, His guidance, and His sacrifice. Help me recognize His voice above all others and trust Him with every area of my life. When I am afraid, remind me that He is my protector. When I am uncertain, remind me that He is my guide. Lead me in Your path and keep me close to You. In Jesus name,
