Daily Devotion

As we prepare our hearts for the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah), one of the most important spiritual disciplines is simply to slow down.

The world trains us to move quickly. Notifications, news, entertainment, and endless responsibilities compete for our attention every moment of the day. Yet throughout Scripture, God often speaks most clearly when His people step away from the noise. Before Israel encountered the Lord, they consecrated themselves and prepared their hearts. Before hearing God's direction, prophets withdrew to quiet places. Even Yeshua (Jesus) regularly separated Himself from the crowds to pray.

The Feast of Trumpets is a divine invitation to awaken spiritually. The sound of the shofar is not merely a call to celebrate but it is a call to listen. We cannot hear clearly if our minds are crowded with constant distractions.

This season, consider limiting media consumption, reducing unnecessary activities, and creating intentional moments of silence. Turn off the television. Put down the phone. Step away from social media. Sit quietly with the Lord. Read a Psalm. Reflect on His faithfulness. Ask Him to search your heart and reveal anything that needs repentance, healing, or renewal.

Slowing down is not wasting time; it is making room for God. In the quiet, the Holy Spirit often reveals what busyness conceals. As the Feast of Trumpets approaches, allow the stillness to prepare your heart for the sound of the shofar and the voice of the Lord.

Be still, and know that I am God.
Psalm 46:10

Good Morning Lord,

As I prepare for the Feast of Trumpets, help me slow down and quiet the noise around me. Remove distractions that compete for my attention and create in me a heart that listens for Your voice. Search me, cleanse me, and draw me closer to You. May this season be one of spiritual awakening, repentance, and renewed fellowship with You. In Jesus name, Amen.
