Daily Devotion

Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Messiah will shine on you.
Ephesians 5:14

Too often we move through life on autopilot, distracted by responsibilities, worries, and endless noise. The Ten Days of Awe begin with a call to attention. God is not merely seeking outward obedience; He desires a heart that is fully devoted to Him.

It is impossible to obey God without the grace of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Grace afforded by Christ is the opportunity for you and I to get it right. Grace is not a license to sin. Grace is not an opportunity to live life on the edge of holy and heathen. We will makes mistakes but we have an advocate; a high priest who understands every temptation known to men. God loves us and would have it that none of us perish. This is why He sent the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor, Counselor, and Strengthener. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit within us that we can fulfill the will of God. It’s not by my might or my power but His Spirit. I’m in Him and He’s in me. I hate what He hates and I love what He loves. I say what He says and I do what He does. My character reflects His influence.

I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.
John 15:5

As you begin this season, ask the Holy Spirit to awaken anything that has become spiritually dull and rekindle your passion for the Lord.

Good Morning Lord,

Awaken my heart to Your voice. Remove spiritual complacency and help me hear Your call clearly. Draw me closer to You and renew my desire to walk faithfully in Your ways. In Yeshua's name, amen.
