Daily Devotion

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Our faith did not begin with us. Before we ever opened a Bible, entered a church, or learned to pray, others were already walking out their faith. Some prayed through difficult seasons. Some served when no one applauded. Some stood firm when obedience cost them something. Others planted seeds they would never live to see grow.

Hebrews 11 recounts the lives of men and women who trusted God despite uncertainty, opposition, and hardship. Go back and read Hebrews 11. Their stories remind us that faith is not the absence of struggle; it is choosing to trust God in the middle of it.

As we approach All Saints’ Day, we pause to remember the faithful witnesses whose lives have pointed us toward God. They were not perfect people. They were people who needed grace, depended on God's promises, and continued to believe.

Remembrance is not meant to keep us looking backward. Hebrews 12 calls us to lay aside every weight and run our own race with perseverance, keeping our eyes on Yeshua, the author and finisher of our faith.

The testimony of those who came before us should inspire us to live faithfully in the time God has given us.

Good Morning Lord,

Thank You for the faithful witnesses who have gone before me. Thank You for the prayers, sacrifices, teachings, and examples that helped shape my faith. Help me learn from their perseverance without losing sight of Yeshua. Show me what I need to lay aside so I can run my own race faithfully. Let my life become a testimony of Your goodness to those who come after me. In Yeshua's name, Amen.
