Daily Devotion

Acts 1:1-3 tells us that from the time that Jesus rose again from the grave (Resurrection) to the time that He ascended into heaven (Ascension), it was a period of 40 days.  And while we do not have a detailed account of everything that Jesus did with His disciples over the course of those 40 days, we do know this time was significant.

We are on the road to Pentecost. A fifty day count to the release of Holy Spirit power!

Pentecost is a biblical event that all too often gets lost among the “biggies” like Easter and Christmas. The truth is that all three events are interwoven together in the Bible. While the birth of Jesus and His victorious resurrection from the dead (following His crucifixion) are central to the Gospel story, Pentecost is the guarantee that Jesus is doing the same ministry today as He did 2000 plus years ago.

We need the power of Pentecost to thrive in places where hope seems to be a commodity in short supply. The guarantee we have with Pentecost, is that Jesus is continuing His ministry to this very day, with signs and wonders. That guarantee provides us with eternal power to do the eternal business of saving the lost at any cost. We can do the work of the ministry of Jesus Christ by providing compassion, education and transformation with the power of Pentecost.
