Daily Devotion

When we hear the word saints, we may think of people who lived long ago, individuals remembered for their extraordinary faith, or believers who gave their lives in service to God. Yet Scripture often uses the word saints to describe God's people; those who belong to Him and are called to live set-apart lives.

The saints were not people who never struggled. They were people who learned to depend on God through their struggles. They were mothers and fathers, teachers and servants, leaders and ordinary believers who chose to trust the Lord in the circumstances of their lives. Some were known by many, while others served faithfully in places where few people ever noticed. Their greatest legacy was not their perfection, their position, or their popularity. It was their faith in a faithful God.

As we reflect on All Saints' Day, we are reminded that our faith is part of a story much bigger than ourselves. We have been encouraged by the prayers of those who came before us, strengthened by their testimonies, and taught through their examples. Some of us can still hear the words of a grandmother who prayed, remember a pastor who spoke truth into our lives, or recall someone whose quiet faith helped us keep going when life became difficult. We give thanks for these witnesses, but we do not stop at remembering them. Hebrews 12 directs our attention to the race we are called to run and, above all, to Yeshua, the author and finisher of our faith.

Good Morning Lord,

Thank You for the faithful men and women who have gone before us. Thank You for their prayers, their sacrifices, their testimonies, and the seeds of faith they planted in the lives of others. Thank You for reminding us through their stories that You remain faithful in every generation.
Help us to honor their legacy by living lives that bring glory to Your name. Teach us to walk in humility, stand firmly on Your Word, love sincerely, and persevere when the journey becomes difficult. Forgive us for the times we have allowed distractions, fear, pride, or discouragement to pull our eyes away from You. In Jesus name, Amen.
