PB Devotion
Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Joel 2:12-13
“Get behind me, Satan! For you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.”
Matthew 16:23
Jesus tells Peter and the rest of his disciples what is to come. He tells them how he will suffer and die so that God can be glorified. Peter could not believe that the Savior that he was following would suffer and be killed. He dared to rebuke Jesus for suggesting such a thing. But Jesus, in turn, rebukes Peter for “setting his mind not on divine things but on human things.”
Lent has begun; 40 Days of Purpose. This is the season where we make space to set our minds on divine things. Take some time to spend with Jesus and ask him to reveal anything that is getting in the way of your connection with Him. What human thing in your life is distracting you? What do you see, feel or hear in your life that causes you to rebuke Jesus? Decrease and allow God to increase in your life. Welcome to 40 Days of Purpose.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
