PB Devotion

Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
‭‭Joel‬ ‭2:12-13‬ ‭

For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12

For any of us who have grown up in North America, it may be difficult to believe in the reality of supernatural forces of evil. For the first century Ephesians church, the reality of spiritual forces of evil was undeniable. Maybe you’ve seen the news or noticed a neighbor and through those experiences you know evil is undeniable. Maybe in your own life you have experience evil and you know that evil is undeniable. Paul seeks to remind the Church of Ephesian that the struggle they were experiencing, the persecution and the suffering they were facing as Christians was not actually against the Roman government or their pagan neighbors, but against spiritual forces of evil in heavenly places. And if the battle is not against actual people but spiritual, we need to prepare appropriately for a spiritual battle. When God is fighting for us who can be against. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Be strong and courageous; know that the Lord your God is always with you. Hold tight to the Word of God. Hold tight to the prophetic words spoken. Have faith in God. Faith is now. Fight the good fight of faith and know that He is God.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:20-21‬ ‭
