Prophets reveal God's heart to His people, giving guidance to individuals and the body, giving revelation, as well as interpretation, application and timing. We see several examples in the book of Acts. God has established prophets in His church to speak His heart. Matthew 10:41-42 says:
“If you receive a prophet as one who speaks for God, you will be given the same reward as a prophet. And if you receive righteous people because of their righteousness, you will be given a reward like theirs. And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”
If you are willing to honor a prophet because you respect the prophetic word you must also be willing to serve the least; that’s what Jesus is saying. Honor the gift as you serve. Is this your gift to the body of Christ. If so, prophecy to the glory of God. Edify the body of Christ and serve the least. Share the Good News!!!

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—”
