Yom Kippur
Day of Atonement

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age.
Titus 2:11–12

Jews believe God shuts the books of life and death as His last act on the Day of Atonement. At that moment, the fate of every Jewish person is sealed for the coming year. The results of their efforts, repentance, prayer, and fasting last only a year. However, as believers in Messiah Jesus, we have complete confidence that Messiah died for our sins once and for all, according to Hebrews 7:26-28.

“It was fitting for us to have such a High Priest [perfectly adapted to our needs], holy, blameless, unstained [by sin], separated from sinners and exalted higher than the heavens; who has no day by day need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices, first of all for his own [personal] sins and then for those of the people, because He [met all the requirements and] did this once for all when He offered up Himself [as a willing sacrifice]. For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak [frail, sinful, dying men], but the word of the oath [of God], which came after [the institution of] the Law, permanently appoints [as priest] a Son who has been made perfect forever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:26-28‬ ‭AMP‬‬

We are forgiven! It is for this reason we celebrate the Day of Atonement.
