PB Devotion

We  can be in the habit of going through the motions when it comes to repenting. Lord forgive me. Lord forgive me. Lord forgive me.

Repentance is a matter of the heart. God is not focused on the outward actions of repentance. There should be signs that follow a heart of repentance and that’s a changed life that brings honor and glory to God.

David said, “the sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise...” A broken spirit is not guilt or shame. It is grief over the thing you know offends God.

Does your repentance look like a heart that has been wrecked, broken and contrite as it beats before God? This attitude is missing from most repentance, and it’s the very thing God is trying to teach us!

...God may grant that they will repent and be led to the knowledge of the truth [accurately understanding and welcoming it], and that they may come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:26

True repentance, like all good things, is a gift from God.

The High Holy Season begins October 2nd.
