We Have A New President
Paul taught the Romans, under a pagan king called Caesar, that even pagan kings are put in place by God for His purposes.
“Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”
Romans 13:1-2 NIV
Further, every king has an eternal soul. God desires all sorts of men to be saved, including kings. We should pray for that continually.
It seems we may have our next President. Different political parties try to attract the vote and support of Christians by appealing to economic and social issues, even religious issues. With troubles in the country and constant debate over many issues, Paul calls us to pray for our leaders to govern with a higher goal: that Christians may lead a peaceful life in all godliness and dignity. Is this your greater concern? It should be.
Yes, economic policy is an issue for Christians to work; yes, social issues should be based upon God’s Ten Commandments ( it’s why the Ten Commandments were created…for social issues…we live in a country stamped by “In God we Trust”); yes, our nation’s defense is necessary for war and peace. But I wonder; how many Christians are praying for their leaders to provide a country where they can live a more godly life in peace? Are you focused on living a more Godly life over the next four years under this new president.
"But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth….
Deuteronomy 8:18
“And God spoke all these words: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.” (Then He begins to list the Ten Commandments)
Exodus 20:1-2 NIV
The Ten Commandments, also known as the Decalogue, are a set of ethical and religious directives in the Hebrew Bible that were given to Moses by God. The commandments are a foundation for society and are structured as a covenant document.
“a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.”
Ecclesiastes 3:8 NIV
“He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.”
Isaiah 2:4 NIV
There will be no need for war when Jesus rules in Zion (the new Jerusalem) but for now we need war so we can have peace.
Everything rehearsed in politics is settled by God. Again, how many Christians are praying for their leaders to provide a country where they can live a more godly life in peace? This should be the main goal.
Does your house depend on the principles and precepts of God to make you wealthy or the world?
Does your house live by the standard of the 10 Commandments or the worlds?
Does your house support the Department of Defense by praying for them and showing a kindness to every soldier and their families as they sacrifice to protect and defend on foreign and/or domestic soil? Or do we encourage our children not to serve?
No matter the winner…what is the condition of your home. Is it a place where the name of God is honored?
Continue to pray that our next president will govern in such a way that Christians may freely live a godly life in peace.
