PB Devotion

For God alone my soul waits in silence, for my hope is from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
Psalm 62:5-6

Hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness. The Bible uses the term hope when it refers to something that is not yet present or visible but is certain to take place. Hope is that part of faith that focuses on the future.

Today you might think you have too many strikes against you to belong to Jesus’ family. But the Bible has good news: all who receive Jesus and believe in his name have the right to become children of God.

God does not love us because we are so great or good. God loves all of us because he is gracious and good. Remember, Boazs mother was Rahab. She became an ancestor of David; the line of Jesus.

Rahab was a prostitute, traitor and an outsider. None of these things disqualified her. She protected Gods people and this qualified her. Her son, Boaz, followed in her footsteps and married Ruth; an outsider.

Christmas invites us to believe in Jesus and to look forward with hope to the day when he will come again to reign as the Lord of lords and King of kings forever. Nothing disqualifies us.

That’s Good News!!! Merry Christmas!

Advent reading this week is Isaiah 9
