Daily Devotion

He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Psalm 23:3

We should take this opportunity to honestly assess the condition of our hearts. Life moves quickly. Ministry, work, family responsibilities, and daily demands can keep us going long after our strength has begun to fade. We become skilled at functioning while depleted.

What areas of your life feel depleted today?

Is it your spiritual life?
Have prayer and worship become more routine than relationship?

Is it your emotional life?
Have disappointments, pressures, or responsibilities left you feeling drained?

Is it your physical body?
Have you ignored the need for rest in order to keep serving others?

Is it your joy?
Have you been carrying responsibility so long that you've forgotten the delight of simply being in God's presence?

The Lord never intended for His children to live from a place of constant depletion. Even Jesus withdrew to quiet places to pray, rest, and be refreshed by His Father. Restoration is not a sign of weakness; it is an act of wisdom.

Sabbatical gives us permission to stop pretending we are full when we are empty. It invites us to bring our depleted places before God and allow Him to restore what has been worn down. God is not asking you to produce more today. He is inviting you to receive more of Him. The areas that feel depleted are often the very places where God desires to pour out fresh grace, renewed strength, and deeper intimacy.

Have I been trying to replenish myself, or have I brought it to God?

Happy Sabbatical
