And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory.
John 1:14

One of the most beautiful truths woven throughout Scripture is God's desire to dwell with His people. From the Garden of Eden, where He walked with Adam and Eve, to the Tabernacle in the wilderness, to the Temple in Jerusalem, God's heart has always been to be near those He loves. The Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, reminds us of this reality. As Israel lived in temporary shelters, they remembered how God dwelt among them during their wilderness journey. His presence guided them by a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. They were never abandoned. Even in uncertain places, God was with them.

John reveals an even greater fulfillment of that promise: "The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." The word translated dwelt literally means to tabernacle or to pitch a tent. Yeshua became God's living tabernacle among humanity. The Creator stepped into creation. The Holy One came near. Heaven touched earth.

This changes everything.

God is not distant. He is not hiding from you. He is not waiting for you to become perfect before He draws near. Through Messiah, He has made a way to dwell with His people. He comes not merely to visit on special occasions but to make His home within us. Many people invite God into a corner of their lives while keeping other rooms closed. We may allow Him into our worship but not our worries. Into our Sunday mornings but not our daily decisions. Into our words but not our wounds. Yet God desires more than occasional access. He desires fellowship, relationship, and lordship over every area of our lives.

When we make room for Him, transformation follows. His presence exposes what needs healing. His love softens hard places in our hearts. His truth corrects our thinking. His peace settles our fears. His Spirit empowers us to live differently. God does not dwell with us merely to improve our image; He dwells with us to transform us from the inside out. Sukkot reminds us that earthly dwellings are temporary. Our houses, careers, possessions, and accomplishments will not last forever. But the presence of God endures. The greatest blessing is not what God gives us. The greatest blessing is God Himself.

Good Morning Lord,

Thank You for Your desire to dwell with Your people. Thank You for the Living Word. Yeshua, the Living Word, who came and tabernacled among us. Forgive me for the times I have crowded You out with distractions, worries, and self-reliance. Today I open every area of my life to You. Dwell in my thoughts, my words, my relationships, and my decisions. Transform my heart so that my life reflects Your presence and Your glory. Let my home, my family, and my spirit become a place where You are welcomed and honored. In Yeshua's name, Amen.
