“He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed.”
1 Peter 2:24 NLT
Isn’t funny how we can live on one part of scripture and call it the truth. It’s like breaking off a piece of a sentence and never revealing what was truly said or fully communicated. We love to echo Paul and say by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah said, “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”
Isaiah 53:4
Transgressions: an act that goes against a law, rule, or code of conduct; an offense.
Iniquity: immoral or grossly unfair behavior.
Chastisement: is a reprimand or wrath
Paul was quoting the prophet Isaiah.
Paul and Isaiah were saying we needed to be healed from our sin. Now some would say this scripture has nothing to do with physical healing and that we use it out of context. I could see that because it’s the only part we quote.
When sickness violates the law, rule, or code of conduct of God you better know it’s offensive to Him. You’re not sick until it stops you from serving and doing His will for your life. Anything that try’s to disrupt the plan of God on your life is offensive. The next time you quote this scripture and you’re expecting healing; know that this sickness is an act that goes against a law, rule, and the code of conduct of God. Sickness is immoral and it’s grossly unfair behavior trying to come against the plan of God for your life. The wrath that was poured out on Jesus Christ paid the price for your healing. Be healed in Jesus name!!
