PB Devotional

Pauls efforts continued in full force, though his circumstances were challenging. It’s the last part of Paul’s life and he expresses mixed results. People come to him and he spends his days unfolding the fullness of the Gospel. It is recorded that some people were convinced of the Gospel and others “disbelieved.”

The work of Paul reminds me of the work of pastoring. Many of us are not as famous as Paul, but certainly are as faithful and committed to obeying: providing top quality teaching so that His children receive a high quality spiritual education. In a very real sense, like Paul, we have more impact with some people than others. I also believe that the promise of the Holy Spirit which Paul recites (quoting Isaiah) is applicable for pastors. We are called to serve our church and every person it and will do so faithfully believing that God will bring the results that will transform people who will impact and transform their own communities/families.

We have and will face substantial opposition and frequent challenges as we obey God but never waver in the belief of the local church. The physical building is like a neon light that proclaims to all who are in the community: this church belongs to God! This is what it looks like to see compassion for people every day! We will teach and preach, but most importantly people will encounter the Jesus who can transform their lives!

Read Acts 28 (recites Isaiah at verse 26)
