PB Devotional
“Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas. That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us!” So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there.”
Acts of the Apostles 16:6-10 NLT
The book of Acts is filled accounts of the clear guidance of the Holy Spirit to the apostles, as they obediently follow the direction the Spirit gives. Paul’s missionary efforts are specifically guided by the Spirit. Paul is even given clear direction in a dream one night about people in Macedonia who plead with Paul to come and preach the Gospel in their region.
Christians look and sound different pending the church. Some Christians scoff at God speaking through dreams. Yet in other parts of the world we regularly hear of people coming to Christ through dreams and visions. The Holy Spirit leads and guides. We never have to be surprised by life when the Holy Spirit is our compass.
