PB Devotions
Those who speak the Word of God, who preach and teach are held to higher accountability.
“Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
James 3:1 NLT
The art of studying (2 Tim. 2:15) is a foundation. They truly believe, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
Paul does not list preaching as a gift to edify the church but after the Holy Spirit filled every person in the upper room and poured out the gifts that only come by His Spirit; Peter preached the first sermon (Acts 2:40). Paul explains the importance of preaching and teaching:
“Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.”
2 Timothy 4:2 NLT
Preaching is a way to communicate God's word, and teaching is a way to explain and clarify God's truth. Not everyone is called to be a preacher or a teacher. Are you that person? Is this your gift to the body of Christ? If so, teach!! If so, preach!!!

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ.
