“And I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will guide you with knowledge and understanding.”
Jeremiah 3:15 NLT
The goal of pastoring is not to serve themselves, but the flock of God, so that the church can attain all that Christ has in store. With transparency comes greater responsibility, and with responsibility, higher accountability. God has set His leaders in place for His church to function, and those truly called into these places will have been tested and proven, having gone through the fire of preparation, displaying true humility and Christ-likeness, not desiring a position or wanting to be served, but wanting to serve their King anyway He wants them to. Paul told Timothy like this:
“Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work…
2 Timothy 2:21 NLT
“…Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity. Until I get there, focus on reading the Scriptures to the church, encouraging the believers, and teaching them.”
1 Timothy 4:12-13 NLT
Paul says,
“If any of you aspires to be an overseer in the church; you have set your heart toward a noble ambition, for the word is true! Yet an elder needs to be one who is without blame before others. He should be one whose heart is for his wife alone and not another woman. He should be recognized as one who is sensible, and well-behaved, and living a disciplined life. He should be a “spiritual shepherd” who has the gift of teaching, and is known for his hospitality. He cannot be a drunkard, or someone who lashes out at others, or argumentative, or someone who simply craves more money, but instead, recognized by his gentleness. His heart should be set on guiding his household with wisdom and dignity; bringing up his children to worship with devotion and purity. For if he’s unable to properly lead his own household well, how could he properly lead God’s household? He should not be a new disciple who would be vulnerable to living in the clouds of conceit and fall into pride, making him easy prey for Satan. He should be respected by those who are unbelievers, having a beautiful testimony among them so that he will not fall into the traps of Satan and be disgraced.”
1 Timothy 3:1-7 TPT
At the time of this writing, based on history, only men had the authority to pastor because women were property. Women are no longer property and prophecy has been fulfilled.
““Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on servants—men and women alike.”
Joel 2:28-29 NLT
Not everyone is called to be a pastor. Are you that person? Is this your gift to the body of Christ? Pastoring is a love gift. So teach the people and love the people. Pastors see the need and fill the need to the glory of God.

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ.
