“But I also want you to think about how this keeps your significance from getting blown up into self-importance. For no matter how significant you are, it is only because of what you are a part of. An enormous eye or a gigantic hand wouldn’t be a body, but a monster. What we have is one body with many parts, each its proper size and in its proper place. No part is important on its own. Can you imagine Eye telling Hand, “Get lost; I don’t need you”? Or, Head telling Foot, “You’re fired; your job has been phased out”? As a matter of fact, in practice it works the other way—the “lower” the part, the more basic, and therefore necessary. You can live without an eye, for instance, but not without a stomach. When it’s a part of your own body you are concerned with, it makes no difference whether the part is visible or clothed, higher or lower. You give it dignity and honor just as it is, without comparisons. If anything, you have more concern for the lower parts than the higher. If you had to choose, wouldn’t you prefer good digestion to full-bodied hair?”
1 Corinthians 12:19-24 MSG
To be apart of the plan of God is an honor. He, God, has given us gifts to fulfill His plan; not our plan. There are a lot of plans we can create from our own imagination. There are many decisions we can make with our own hand. God has given us a brain and He expects us to use it. Any child you have to talk to all time and remind them of the plan at every turn is very immature. God is expecting us to do what we know needs to be done because we know the plan. Fulfill the Great Commission is the plan. How you do it is up to you. Be sensitive to His voice. When He says, go left, go. Run the race with full intent and be prepared to pivot on His demand. The gift manifested in you doesn't make you self-important. Remember, scripture says, “For no matter how significant you are, it is only because of what you are a part of. An enormous eye or a gigantic hand wouldn’t be a body, but a monster.” So, are you becoming a monster with the gift God has given you. Choose today to stay in your lane and never think of yourself higher than you ought. You are great because you work for a great God; His name is Jesus.
The Ordinary Days!!!
All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. Here are some of the parts God has appointed for the church: first are apostles, second are prophets, third are teachers, then those who do miracles, those who have the gift of healing, those who can help others, those who have the gift of leadership, those who speak in unknown languages. Are we all apostles? Are we all prophets? Are we all teachers? Do we all have the power to do miracles? Do we all have the gift of healing? Do we all have the ability to speak in unknown languages? Do we all have the ability to interpret unknown languages? Of course not!”
