PB Devotion
Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Joel 2:12-13
The word “Lent” comes from the Old English word “lengthen,” which simply means spring; the days lengthen and new life springs forth. It is a time in which we anticipate the victory of the light and life of Christ over the darkness of sin and death. Ash Wednesday is tomorrow. It begins the Lent season; our 40 Days of Purpose. Create a space in your heart and mind to remember the reality of our broken humanity. As we journey through our 40 days of Purpose, we should experience with greater abundance the reality of God’s redeeming grace.
We carefully prepare for big events in our personal lives, such as weddings, graduations and/or births. Lent invites us to make our hearts ready for remembering Jesus’ death and resurrection, the 40 days and nights in the wildernesses and our redemption through His love. Purpose to see your life and the life of those around in the light of God’s Word.
Get ready to enjoy 40 days of Purpose!

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
