PB Devotion
Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Joel 2:12-13
“For what the flesh desires is opposed to the Spirit, and what he Spirit desires is opposed to the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, to prevent from doing what you want.”
Galatians 5:17
Have you ever made a New Year’s Resolution? Have you ever kept a New Year’s Resolution for man than a month? A week? When we make a resolution, it is because there is a desire for a change. However, as much as we may want to make a change in our lives, we are often unable to make a lasting change because we have not addressed other desires, the desires that are working against our resolutions. We may say want to exercise more, but in reality, the desire to rest is stronger. It is the same way in our spiritual life. There is a battle inside each one of us pitting flesh against Spirit. During the 40 Days of Purpose think about an area of spiritual growth that is important to you. Are there unexamined desires of the flesh that are hindering you from spiritual growth?

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
