PB Devotion
Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.”
Joel 2:12-13
“Now we know that whatever the law says, it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For “no human being will be justified in his sight” by deeds prescribed by the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin. But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been disclosed, and is attested by the law and the prophets, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.”
Romans 3:19-21
Because of the work of Jesus on the cross, we can share in the righteousness of God. We are not justified by our works or by following the Law. We are now free to live by the Spirit. The Law is now written on our hearts. Like the people of Israel who were freed from slavery in Egypt, Christians are now free to be led by the Spirit into a new land; a new life. During 40 Days of Purpose, consider what parts of your life you are living under the Law. Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. There is freedom in Christ. Accept the freedom that Christ freely gives for your whole life.

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20-21
