PB Devotion

You who sit down in the High God’s presence, spend the night in Shaddai’s shadow,
Say this: “God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe!” That’s right—he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you— under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing—not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon. Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, because God you are my refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling. You’ll walk unharmed among lions and snakes and kick young lions and serpents from the path. “If you’ll hold on to me for dear life,” says God, “I’ll get you out of any trouble. I’ll give you the best of care if you’ll only get to know and trust me. Call me and I’ll answer, be at your side in bad times I will rescue you, then throw you a party. I’ll give you a long life, give you a long drink of salvation!”
Psalm 91

The devil took Jesus to the top of the Jerusalem temple overlooking a deep valley. A fall from such a height would certainly kill him. The devil temped Jesus to throw himself down and to command the angles to rescue him by quoting Psalm 91. The devil knows scripture but takes it out of context. The devil left out the part about…

“Yes, because God’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door.”

He skipped down to angles protecting him.

The promise of Psalm 91 is to the people of God who have made the Lord their refuge. It is a promise of protection against whatever may come against you; not an invitation to test God by putting oneself in danger. The enemy can deceive us in many ways, including Scripture used out of context. Think about the ways you have heard the Bible quoted or used to counter its original context and meaning? What damages have you seen done? God gives us the wisdom and ability to discern scripture properly through the work of the Holy Spirit and the studying of His Word. Over these last 40 days I hope you have studied the Word more than ever. I pray that you have gained more insight from the Holy Spirit resulting in rhema revelation. The Word works when you work the Word.

Holy Week

This is the Year of Overflow

Sow Anyhow!!!

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever. Amen.”
